Why We Should Invest in Our Future

This is the most significant election of our time.  There has been a slew of controversy and endless news coverage surrounding the election of the nation’s next President.

Nevertheless, we have to prepare ourselves for any future possibility.   One way to do this is to get involved, get out, and vote so your voices can be heard.  It is important for all of us to vote in this election cycle, because doing so increases the chance that those who are elected represent us and reflect our views.

We all have to take note of and be vigilant to, holding our political candidates accountable not only for their actions, but also for passing bills that will positively affect us such as: the Paycheck Fairness Act, the Paid Parental Leave Act and equal employment opportunities, just to name a few.

Our legislative agenda works in concert with our mission of representing federally employed women’s concerns and interests before legislative and judicial bodies.  The Legislative Program is one that is both pro-active and defensive by monitoring important Congressional proposals in order to assess the impact on women.

I encourage you to think about how you can become engaged in this election cycle whether it’s at the local, state or national level they all have a direct impact on our lives no matter what level they are on the ballot.

Exercising the right to vote is an effective way to strive for political equality.  It allows citizens to choose their representatives.  Voting also helps to decide if local referendums pass, such as new taxes or education reforms.
