Sharon Nelson

Sharon Nelson was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was raised in various parts of the United States as her father was in the U.S. Navy.  Sharon is a retiree with 36 years of federal service.  She has worked for the following agencies:  Department of Energy; U.S. Air Force; U.S. Army; and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Attorney.  Sharon volunteers with the Washington State Parent Teacher Association; Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital-Mary Bridge Brigade; Oakbrook Golf Course; Steilacoom Historical Education Foundation; and FEW.

Sharon has held various positions with these organizations at the National or local level.  These positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary, volunteer coordinator, Vice-President of Programs, Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, or  golf handicap volunteer.  She has served as Regional Manager for the Pacific Northwest Region, Regional Representative, Regional Secretary, and Chapter President for the Rainier Chapter.

Sharon lives in Lakewood, Washington, with her husband Byron, a retired U.S. Air Force jet pilot with 20 years service and his second career as a 911 call receiver. They have one child, Eric, who resides in Amsterdam, Netherlands with his wife, Rebecca, Evelyn (3 years old) and Theodore (3 months old).  Sharon’s leisure time is spent volunteering, reading, traveling, and playing golf.
