Generosity and kindness are two of FEW’s member values that shine all year long, and even more so during the winter holiday season. Traditionally, FEW members give in countless ways to better our regions and communities across the nation. Whether you use this season to recognize a colleague or supervisor by nominating them for a 2023 Samuel J. Heyman (Sammie) award, visit a nursing home, provide for children of the incarcerated, or feed the homeless, know that you are spreading a FEW footprint of care wherever you go.
The FEW Foundation for Education and Training is the charitable arm of FEW and exists to raise scholarship funds for those in need. The holiday season provides a unique opportunity to take advantage of gifting others while supporting FEW’s mission of working towards the advancement of women in the government. I encourage you to look at their fundraising opportunities and participate as you are able. As a 501 (c)(3) charity, your contributions are tax-deductible, so please consider supporting the FEW Foundation in your year-end giving.
Take some time to read about FEW members in the Blogs/Socialize with FEW section of our national website. We also hope you will share some of your special memories, traditions, and recipes via our social media platforms throughout December.
- Monday, December 19: In the spirit of Chanukah (Hanukkah), which begins on December 18, share your stories and pics of family, resilience, and light.
- Thursday, December 22: National Cookie Exchange Day! Share pics of your holiday baking projects, your own cookie recipes, or links to your favorite online cookie recipes.
- Monday, December 26: Share your thoughts about “unity”, one of Kwanzaa’s seven principles.
A note about FEW office closures for the upcoming holidays:
While our FEW volunteer leaders consistently work to serve you and the community, we are scheduling time for a short break. Please note that the FEW office will closed from December 19 through January 6.
On behalf of the FEW National Board of Directors, our headquarters staff, and my family, I wish you and your loved ones peace, happiness, good health, and prosperity now and throughout 2023. Enjoy a light-filled Chanukah, a joyful Christmas, a festive Kwanzaa, and a Happy New Year!
