As President of FEW, every member means the world to me. Yet, as a Veteran myself, our members who serve and have served hold a very special place in my heart. FEW celebrates and honors America’s veterans for their patriotism and willingness to sacrifice for the common good. Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. For one day, we stand united in saluting our veterans.
Veterans Day is a federal holiday, a bank holiday, and (in most cases) a state holiday. This means that federal employees, including military members, and some state employees receive holiday leave. However, this recognition is much more than a day off from work. FEW encourages you to take time to learn about and appreciate those who have served.
What can you do? Check with local veterans’ organizations. If you’re looking to reach out to groups of veterans or learn the best way to help those who live near you, your local veterans’ organizations are great places to start. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion groups often host veteran-focused events or volunteer opportunities. Wounded Warrior Project and Team Red, White & Blue provide holistic community support for veterans, family members, and caregivers. Get involved by
volunteering, raising awareness, or joining a support team. Listen to inspiring podcast stories of resilience and perseverance.
To each of you, FEW truly thanks you for your service. And, we thank you for making FEW better with your participation and engagement.
Happy Veterans Day!
