Information of Interest FEW Joins Blue Cross Blue Shield and FEEA Humanitarian EffortThe Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Federal Employees Program (FEP) and Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) have joined to raise additional funds for two federal families. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, FEEA has aided more than 4,000 federal employees with grants totaling $1.8 million. Three years after the storm, two families were identified with extraordinary needs. Patsy Bright, a native of New Orleans, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) employee, resides in the sleepy suburb of Slidell. Now Patsy's home and one single neighbor live amid desolation. One half of Patsy's duplex has been restored; only a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are livable. Burnetta Wilson, a U.S. Postal employee, has lived in the same house her entire life. Presently her house is mostly back together, but Burnetta still faces significant challenges. She currently doesn't have home insurance because insurance companies now require that houses be raised off the ground-no small matter at a cost of $30,000 to $40,000. Her contractor has warned her that she needs more ventilation in her attic. For more information about these two families CLICK HERE For so many years, Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP and FEEA have supported Federally Employed Women's (FEW) endeavors in many ways, especially financially. Now we can help, not only those two organizations, but more significantly, two members of our federal family. To join this effort to support Patsy Bright and Burnetta Wilson, send your tax-deductible check to FEEA-Katrina Fund, 3333 S. Wadsworth Building, Suite 300, Lakewood, Colorado 80227 or donate by credit card on-line at www.FEEA.org. Women's Health Issues | ||
