Great Lakes Region Member Debra Hobbs Selected for Appointment to Post on FEW’s National Board of Directors
Submitted by Regine Williams, Great Lakes Region, Federally Employed WomenDebra Hobbs

Debra Hobbs, the Federal Women’s Program (FWP) Manager for the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) and Great Lakes Region, Equalitarian Chapter member of Federally Employed Women (FEW), was appointed as FEW’s National Special Assistant for the FWP.

Arlena Fitch-Gordon, FEW’s National Vice President for Training, nominated Ms. Hobbs for the position during FEW’s National Board of Directors (NBOD) meeting in July when the position vacancy was announced.

After a review process, Hobbs was notified that she was selected to serve on FEW’s NBOD in that position.

“My ultimate goal is to ensure that the women here at DSCC know that I am their voice,” Hobbs said.  “Our mission is to positively impact the employment, professional development and advancement of women within federal agencies.  I don’t take this lightly; I endeavor to ensure that we complete this mission.”

Fitch-Gordon stated that Hobbs has demonstrated her dedicated commitment to the professional development and advancement of women within the Defense Logistics Agency.  She added that DSCC has one of the best FWPs within the United States under the leadership of Equal Employment Opportunity Office Manager Charles Palmer.

During the selection process, Sue Webster, FEW’s National President, contacted Hobbs and requested that she provide some information such as her involvement with FEW and her vision of how she believes that FEW and FWP should work together.  She also asked Hobbs to submit a short write-up describing why she should be selected for the position.

Hobbs’ proposal was considered along with submissions from other candidates for review and selection.  Webster told Hobbs that this is an important position for FEW at this vital time as FEW has been working hard to raise visibility in this area.

Fitch-Gordon offered her congratulations to Hobbs for “being appointed to this very prestigious position.”
